Welcome to Kiwidave's Wargaming Wiki!
I decided that it was about time I set up a site to showcase my hobby: playing with toy soldiers (and occasionally winning...) The site is a work-in-progress, so bear with me - eventually I'll have loads of pics of my various models, and will endeavour to get some battle reports here as well.
A little about me: I'm an ex-pat New Zealander (home of the All Blacks, a bazillion sheep and Hobbits) currently living in self-imposed exile in the UK. I'm just the wrong side of 40, married, with a 2 year old daughter. I'm a computer programmer, Cheltenham Town supporter (come on you Robins!), and Star Trek fan (and enjoy almost anything sci-fi or fantasy). My favourite author is Raymond E. Fiest, and his Rift War novels. Tolkein is pretty good too :D
On the gaming side, I've been dabbling with wargames as long as I can remember, starting with plastic soldiers and cannons that shot matches, through to my current activities (Warhammer Fantasy, Bloodbowl, Warmaster, Warmaster Ancients, and Blitzkrieg Commander). Cold War Commander may soon be added to the list! Years ago I even wrote my own set of WWII rules called Attack! for 1/72 scale models, and have even used Lego bricks to refight a battle between Rome and Carthage...
Current Projects:
- Assemble and paint Blitzkrieg Commander Late War Eastern Front Germans - (update: 09/05/2009 - Have now completed a battalion of Panthers. Base-coated a second infantry battalion and support elements.)
- Assemble and paint Blitzkrieg Commander Late War Eastern Front Russians - (update: 25/03/2009 - Have now base-coated a battalion of infantry.)
- Finish painting 10mm scenery (This will probably never be finshed!)
- Finish painting ~1000 points of Warmaster Ancients Greeks (update: 29/05/2009 - these may never get done - I may sell them and get some Rus instead)
- Paint ~1200 points of Warmaster Ancients Sassinid Persians (update: 29/05/2009 - these may never get done - I may sell them and get some Rus instead)
- Finish painting Orcs for Warhammer (update: 29/05/2009 - need to assemble 8 of them)
- Paint Blood Bowl Human team (update: 04/06/2009 - have done 1 prototype colour scheme - see WIP)
